1st Birthdays

I had the pleasure of creating the following birthday cakes for two sweet little angels.

First was for the ever precious Jude. My first time taking a crack at the topsy-turvy cake, and a true test in fondant work. Talk about patience! But worth every trimmed and covered piece of cake. Along with that cake were jumbo #1 cupcakes for Jude himself to dig into!

Madison's cake is a very sweet and simple design. This was one of my favorites to make, because it was so girly of course, but also having the freedom to go where the colors took. Not sure why I didn't snap a picture of her jumbo cupcakes, but this is the box they were delivered in :)

Happy Sweet 16 Baby Sister

How else do you keep working on your skill then to make a sweet 16 cake for your baby sister! Of course this was for our family party - definitely not enough cake for the millions of people she actually wanted there ;)
This was definitely a new and fun cake shape for me. Covering a heart shaped cake is not the easiest thing in the world, but somehow I managed! And thankfully, she loved it.

Happy Birthday my not so baby sister!!

It Continues...

This little lamb was so much fun to make! And my first stab at some character creating :D Miss Megan was leaving us as the KCC lead teacher - I for one was incredibly bummed - but super excited to be able to make her going away cake.
Thank you for teaching our little lambs!

Fresno Pacific hosted a silent auction - guess who was lucky enough to have items up for grabs?!
Sorry they are a little blurry. Darn old cell phone cameras.
(Thanks Aunt Nina and Uncle Greg for thinking of me!)

Fondant Fun

Fondant has been quite the experience! After watching a million cake shows, I decided it was something I could teach myself, and I did. But not without many trials and a few breakdowns.
(yes I did actually cry, and no it is not surprising to anyone that knows me!)
Here are a few of those trials... And of course I didn't start with simple and small! I jumped feet first into a huge disco themed birthday party!
Time to boogey around that dance floor all!!

These two were just for fun and to keep practicing that rolling and covering of the fondant. Amazing how something so small can take so much work. PHEW!

I think these two may be some of my favorites! The present cake was for one of my BFF's mom's birthday. First time (and the only time now that I think about it) that I have done one like this. That bow was so much fun to make. It's incredible how you can manipulate fondant to create such awesome items!

Just fun and girly. And who doesn't love polka dots!

Can't forget about this little fun item! All of the pictures on here are from years ago, so this was one of my "getting back into it" fondant cakes. Not too shabby for the first time in, oh you know, about 3 years!!

Birthday Fun Up Ahead

This was such a fun summer cake! And wouldn't you know it, for a cute little named Summer! This one was done with all frosting, because, well, she was turning 1. Pretty sure fondant is not on her list of likes at this point in life. Definitely made it easy for her to tear apart for those fun 1st birthday memories.

Another all frosting cake for my sweet cousin Julia...
